Cube’s Stock Price Rose after Soyeon Confirmed (G)I-DLE’s Renewal + Discussed Soojin
As of 9:05 a.m. on the 2nd, Cube Entertainment is trading at 17,440 KRW (approx 12.4 USD) on the KOSDAQ market, up 1,060 KRW (6.47%) from the previous trading day. During the session, the stock rose as high as 18,010 KRW (approx. 12.8 USD), a 9.95% increase.
The surge in Cube Entertainment’s stock price is attributed to the news of the contract renewal of its group, (G)I-DLE. On November 30, (G)I-DLE announced their re-signing during the “MMA 2024” held at the Inspire Arena in Incheon, where they also won the grand prize for “Record of the Year.”
Additionally, (G)I-DLE’s leader, Jeon Soyeon, confirmed on December 1 via her Instagram that all five members of the group have decided to continue their journey with Cube Entertainment.
Soyeon shared, “Over the past seven years, we’ve experienced joy, sadness, frustration, and hope together. These experiences have made us even stronger as a group.”
She continued, “Since we come from very different countries and environments and only met as adults, it took us a little longer to reach this point. However, all five of us shared the same thought—to stay together.”
Expressing her happiness, she said, “I’m incredibly happy and proud to continue as the leader of (G)I-DLE for a long time. Let’s stay together forever, with Neverland and as idols.”
This announcement comes after Soyeon caused a stir during her live performance at the 2024 MAMA Awards in Osaka, Japan, on November 23. In her rap, she directly addressed comments about former member Soojin’s departure, singing:
“Back in 2021, you said, ‘What can you do without Soojin?’
You talked about contracts and the end of the group.
If I had let those words affect me, I wouldn’t have made it this far.”
This sparked speculation among fans, with rumors circulating about possible disbandment or Soyeon not renewing her contract with Cube Entertainment.
On November 30, Soyeon surprised fans during the 2024 Melon Music Awards at Incheon Inspire Arena, where (G)I-DLE received the Record of the Year award. She revealed, “Before coming on stage, the five of us agreed to renew our contracts. We promise to continue creating great music together not just next year, but for many years to come.”
